it's been a while since I temporary turned my back on TGM for various reasons.
The main reason was, I lost all feel for my golfswing being fiddled up with the controlling of hands, Pivot, posture.
Then I discovered a (maybe for you) well known guy named Fred Shoemaker. I practised his clubthrowingdrill and all of a sudden I pured my irons for a couple of weeks and was able to shoot a 75 now and then and even a 2 under Par. Timing was simply perfect. Unfortunately that feeling of greatness disappeared and I went into the slump of hard work again.
Back here because of 2 reasons: with the aimingpoint technique I was able to hit more fairways, but not more greens, since my wedges and short irons tend to go 10-20 yards right of the target every 3-4 shots. If pured they are astonishingly long and straight, for instance a 7 iron can fly over 190y, but this pureness is not often there.
I videoed my swing 2 weeks ago and figured a bodysway of a whole upperleg towards the target, my left knee moves definitely about 10 inches towards the target and I have balance issues. Also standing up on the backswing seems to be something ingrained very well
My drills are since this discovery, with a shaft in the ground on my left foot, which I try not to hit with my hip.
Balance is definitely improved but impact is disastrous - I hit only 2 out of 10 near the sweetspot. What makes me a little bit lost is, when I use Aquired Motion, my contact is rather sweet and balance is there, as soon as I move to full motion it feels more like powerless effort.
This vid is when I started to discover the faults.
Question for me is now: If I try to achieve balance, I cannot seem to reach my aimpoint, shifting it doesn't help at all. Only when I feel like I fully move into the ball I have better contact. But then again I have huge direction issues between pushes and pullhooks. The best drill so far I found for me was the hit and hold but again, this has great impact on balance but I am loosing a bit too much of distance, say 20 yards or so.
The season tends to get started over here and I want to get ready within the next 4 weeks. Time to practice is available but I would like to do it right this time. My pro is a pga bound guy with no clue about TGM :-\ munich is too far away for a trip. I try 2 things currently, have a stationary head and a centered swing, so if you have any suggestions for usefull drill I'd glady apply them.
