EdZ, A good friend, excellent Mini tour player heading for
Tour is taking lessons from an Instructor in Atlanta.
The instructor wants the guy to do a drill where he
cocks the hands straight up and then takes the assembly
to the right shoulder. Says that Sevi Ballestros and
Tom Watson does this drill. I told my friend to get
another instrustor, that you never cock the right wrist.
Are you familar with this drill, and what are your thoughts.
Thanks, Donn

If it is the same gentleman who has posted here in the past, he would be giving the instructor lessons. Just saying, his stuff is great.

Thanks Yoda for the clarification. I certainly was
not infering that EdZ was involved. As you mentioned,
I was asking EdZ for his insights into drills.
Yes Whip, I think that the drill by Leadbetter is the same.
Leadbetter THE GOLF SWING:
"try what I call the 'preset' drill. After adopting your
normal setup, lift the club up directly in front of you
until is at 90 degrees. Do not extend your arms away from
your body. Observe the angles formed at the back of wrists.
Now, while maintaining those angles, simply turn your body
and place the club at the top. This not only puts you in
perfect position, but conveys the feeling of passive arms,
and wrists you wish to encourage in your normal swing."
Seems like cocking the right wrist to me. What do you
know about the drill?
