New to TGM and Lynn Blake-Where to now?
Let me start off by saying that I am really impressed with Lynn and the delivery he has to golf instruction. I remember about the same time last year I came across a youtube of his and was very interested, but due to a wrist injury lost touch to him and other things I was working on.

Anyway, here is where I am as a golfer:
39 yrs old, started experimenting(Use that loosely) in h school, played sporadically maybe 3-4 rounds a year here and there very little practice, didn't watch golf, no instruction or reading etc. I started to take my golf seriously about 4 years ago. I was very into Hogan, and the history of the game and since have done some reading and internet search to try to do some self-teaching and improve my game. I have gone from a 30 handicap to as low as an 8, and now am about a 12 or so. How I did this I have no idea, other than playing ALOT of golf and some practice, primarily my short game. Through trial and error and some video footage to see what I was doing more often wrong!
Examples here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/ezeddie3.../4/duUnFviojoU
AT the time I was working on ridding myself of rolling my arms and taking the club too far inside in my takeaway, evidence with some of my waggles.
There are a couple of other videos in there with face on and some driver swings etc. Mind you these are from 1 year ago before I got hurt, not sure if they are close to what I am doing now.
I came across the secret in the dirt- with elkington and martinez, sevam1, and some other stuff from the golfwrx site. All of these things are great, in specific the move martinez made in his recent video.

Yet when I came across this site it's like Lynn's stuff prepares you from the ground up, no pun intended. SO now I am prepared to shred everything apart if needed to get it right and be able to really improve my game.

Having said all this I found I had a terrible grip, takeaway, footwork, balance, allignment, weight transfer, sway, flip, cast, and occasionally shank the ball, other than that I'm good! As for the short game, as you can see in my sand videos on my youtube page, probably the best thing i have going is my bunker play. The short game I'm better at pitch shots from the rough and those kind of shots than I am at chipping and tighter lies.

I can't afford private lessons right now, so I am going to stick to Lynn's philosophy because it just sounds and feels better. I watched a lot of the videos and started to mess around indoors with an impact bag and working on my grip. I spent 2 nights, w/out touching a ball non stop hitting that bag, flat left wrist leading and bent rt arm. Here is what I found out 2 things I focused on:

Old grip I can tell you this, 1-10 10 being the best I had 1 as far as my grip before. Specifically my rt hand was terrible no unison w lifeline and left thumb(PP1 I think it is), my rt hand was strong, not connected and prob too far below my left hand. My left hand was too weak and my thumb was too high on the shaft, and 3 left fingers(PP2?) was not secure throughout swing. If this makes sense I gripped the club too tight yet not secure at the same time. Last but not least my rt index was too far below and around the shaft and PP3- heck I never even knew what that was, much less felt. I can tell you if nothing else, I guess I never knew how to grip a club properly to now, never knew what it felt like. FEEL,that word is key as I am finally realizing what that really is with some of the things I'm seeing and applying from this FABULOUS forum, thanks again Lynn!!!!

Takeaway This is my biggest surprise, how off I was. 2 things that have been eye openers are club head drag and rt forearm takeaway. I was always under the impression that the rt arm was bad in the swing, back and through, my god was I wrong. I kind of feel that pull/push is the way to go, at least for now. I look at myself in the mirror while rehearsing this, and don't even recognize myself in the mirror.

Being obsessive comp. and having occasional ADD, lol that wasn't enough the last 2 nights. I started to get into, flying wedges, extensors, impact ready address, lag, the dowels, the 3 releases, mcdonald drills(don't even feel like golf- guess that's how off I am with sequencing etc.) and everything else I could find. When I finally got to the range I thought I was going to kill the ball, and the range was closed!!!!

I had to at least try it with the short game so I hit some pitches, initially I started to hit a bunch fat and 1 shank and was like uh-oh. Then I got into a little groove and hit it pretty consistent. Even though the range was closed, I actually hit about 6 9 iron shots with some old balls, they were all within 15 yds from each other.

IN closing I didn't bring to the range, albeit limited session, what I felt at home with a mirror and rehearsing etc.. Even though I only hit 6 balls, a bucket wasn't going to stop what I was feeling, still flipping a bit, prob losing my left arm from chest(PP1?) and terrible footwork.

Structure is not my forte, so my question is what is the proper path to get it right. It seems the more I jump from post to post it leads to something else, from reading on the hinge action, dowels, TGM book, etc. My head is spinning!!! Yet in a good way! I am versed enough and have a great grasp of this game now where I can follow very well, yet it seems I start something new before I finish another. For someone that has played for some time, and is a decent player overall is there some kind of thread that shows a detailed path so to speak.

BTW why are my ring and middle fingers in my rt hand killing me? Is that normal considering I am gripping the club totally different than before or beating that impact bag down and holding that finish- another great nugget Lynn, holding positions to let the computer digest all of that!

I would appreciate any feedback from my post or the horrible swings on my youtube page.

IMHO, you need to watch some key videos, then you really need to purchase Alignment Golf. It's as close to a private lesson with YODA as you will get.

I included Mr. Murphy's video as he is a student of Lynn's, a top teacher, and in my opinion, his video covers some of the MacDonald drills that YODA didn't have time to cover in his Golf Channel Video. I believe these to be a very important part of the foundation of YODA's teaching. It took me WAY too long to figure that out, hopefully it will save you some time. Be a better listener than I was... it's too easy for us to get tunnel vision and focus solely on Mr. Kelley's great work. YODA's teaching includes so much more...

Inner I am in Miami, FL. Is there anyone down here that is a certified instructor with TGM or affiliated with Lynn? At the time I can't afford to go take private lessons with Lynn, although I would love nothing more.

Eddie,
1) Make the right hip backswing motion better - you're stuck - probably based on some implementation of the idea of restricted hip motion.
2) Square up the clubface better at address before you take the grip.
3) Take it back the opposite of the roll open takeaway feel
4) You need to learn to hit down - on top of the ball - with the face. Too much "UP" going on.

Nice and concise, Mike? How is CA?

May I just add that you can drag the club back and up using no hands, just your hip.
