I can see why Tom is a really good teacher and had great results with his students and Im really enjoying these....
I spoted the mistake too but it was obviously just a slip of the toungue.... I have to say im not so keen on the advice that he gives though where he tells people that you can sence the hinge action alignments through the right hand.... It is against 1-F (left hand clubhead- right hand clubface) ... As Homer said you can save yourself much anguish this way....
It depends on the length of the swing (Full Swing, Pitch or chip), location of the ball in your stance and the amount of thrust you put on the ball...and what club you have in your hands....are you using a one, a two, a three or a 4 barrel stroke....sometimes the answers to questions in TGM can not be returned ONE DIMENSIONALLY. The mind must be open to the integration of multiple sources in creating a golf shot.
Full Swing.....Horizontal Hinging lower than Angled
Short shots....a lot of golfers place the ball back in their stance with the hitting motion and angled hinging which creates a lower ball flight....the same length swing with horizontal hinging and the ball placed towards the middle or in line with the left arm will produce a high shot....
You have to watch it...TGM becomes complex with the short game....you think the full swing is difficult.....the choices you have with the short game are huge.
So for a Full Swing only normal ball position....
Horizontal Hinge = Low Trajectory
Angled Hinge = Mid-Trajectory
Vertical Hinge = High (or vertical) Trajectory

Ya I agree Matt. That's the way that works best for me. Monitor the face with the left wrist. Get it flat and mash it in the direction you want the ball to go.
