this must have been to show gene what the most stable plane was for your
arms, with the bottles of champaign in his hands they probably felt most
stable going in and out 90 degrees to his spine. which is what mac beleives
your left arm should be at the top of swing

Actually, he was trying to demonstrate the Conservation of Angular Momentum.
Just like a figure skater spinning in a circle, the closer the mass (arms) is
to the center of rotation the easier it rotates, the further away the slower
it spins.

That's right, Drew. Homer Kelley demonstrated the law spinning on a swivel
stool in his study. When he put out his arm (low mass relative to the body),
he did not slow down. When he put out his leg, he slowed dramatically.

The Swinger's 'arm' is the extension of the Swing Radius at Release (the
Uncocking Left Wrist). Because the Club's mass is low relative to the Body,
it does not significantly slow down at Release, i.e., there is minimal
Release Deceleration due the Transfer of the Body's Momentum. The Hitter,
however, does not have this advantage, and unless he continues to Drive, the
slowdown can be considerable
