Imagine
Imagine Impact.

This is what Impact Fix is all about seeing the result of the motion. So what does impact really LOOK like? Certainly this must rely on the picture you have. The best players over the years have always understood this. Nicklaus called it going to the movies in his book Golf My Way.

How many people do this on every single shot? See the result, the entire motion, before you begin? What aspect of the motion do you focus on? If any? Where do you LOOK to produce the desired result?

Each link in the chain is a place to LOOK. The motion of the club, the hands, the arms, the torso, legs, knees and feet can have influence on the result.

The HANDS are the only link of the chain directly in contact with the club and are therefore critical to Monitor. What do the HANDS do during the swinging motion? They SWING. They move in a smooth, steady, HEAVY motion on a path that ORBITS THE CENTER of BALANCE.

The HANDS can be oriented in multiple ways on the club, and change during the motion. How one grips the club determines the range of reasonable (ideally uncompensated) motions that will result. Impact is SUPPORTED by the HANDS. This is felt in the Pressure Points, the areas of the hands which most directly support the FORCES of Impact. Those FORCES move ON PLANE.

Picture Saturns rings. They ORBIT the planet, the center ON PLANE. The Pressure Points move around the CENTER in Rhythm and in synch with the ROTATION of the body in much the same way. The application of FORCE at impact should be as efficient as possible. Impact should be fully SUPPORTED by as much of the body as needed for the shot at hand beginning with the Pressure Points and moving through the entire body down to the FEET.

Imagine Impact from your hands (Grip) to your feet. How do you best support the forces of Impact? What position does that put you in?

Are you in BALANCE? Are you ready to SUPPORT the FORCES of Impact? The line of FORCE that is being sent through the ball, DOWN into the GROUND. The Force that is moving from your HANDS to the club through the Pressure Points.

Imagine. Can you see it? The Result.

When I get into a groove I often find myself envisioning my swing RIGHT before I pull the trigger.

I'd see the general motion and pace.....but nothing specific. Just the entire thing.

Have never really experimented with much visualization- yet.

On the course, I find it very helpful just to try and make sure I go to impact fix and really see the right arm angle of approach, and the parallel delivery line of the hands to the ball. I don't want to be thinking about too much, but this visualisation really helps me (I'm trying to get away from my old circle path -forward swing, to a straight line down the plane swing). It's amazing how much disipline it takes to go to impact fix each time though!
