Trusting Your Improvement
First, the background: I've been golfing for about 15 years. Was a decent golfer before trying to improve with a "Top 100" teacher about 5 years ago (never do this!). He stressed "the turn". Turn, turn, turn, and everything will be fine. Well, as you can imagine, I turned all right. I came over the top and created a huge shank in my swing. Could not figure out the problem, so this year I switched over to TGM expert, Ted Fort (aka Yodasluke).

So far, it's been great. Two steps forward, one step back. But we're making progress. The biggest challenge has been a mental one. Ted has correctly diagnosed my shanking problem as an over-the-top move caused by a roundhousing shoulder. So the fix is to send my right shoulder down plane. But it's so difficult to do it because I don't believe that I will get the club back to the ball. I don't trust that I will make contact from way back "there". This is the part of golf instruction that is never mentioned in books or dvds or youtube videos. How do you learn to trust that your change will actually work? Thx.
