Shanking wedge after hitting driver

A hitters problem:

When I go to the range, I normally start off chipping and pitching with my short irons. That normally goes pretty well, and getting better everyday. The problem occurs after I hit my woods or driver. Often when I go back to the wedge for chipping, after hitting the longer clubs, I shank the ball terribly. I can see that I am hitting it on the hosel;see it happening in my practice swing, anyway. I can still do a full swing with the wedge at this point, but last night I must have shanked 30 balls trying to pinpoint the cause. I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing this.

Any suggestions?

It's obvious that you're Swiveling your Hands through Impact. Stop trying to Roll the Clubface.

Daryl,

Swiveling hands? Not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean the clubhead is overtaking my hands before or at impact?

Thanks

You're trying to Roll the Clubface using your hands.

I'm betting that your right shoulder isn't down low enough on the wedges after the drivers, which causes the right shoulder to move outward in trying to reach the ball, which in turn moves the sweetspot outside the ball. I.e., you are running out of right arm. The fix is to set up with plenty of right arm bend at address.

I think you might be on to something there MizunoJoe.I am thinking that combined with a right hand grip that may, after pounding too many drives inadvertently move to more of a power robbing finger style that also seemed to change my plane, than a palm style on my right hand. Side note: I just purchased a used set of M32's that I really like.Sweet clubs!

Thanks. I now have a few things to check if it ever happens again

A suggestion:

3-f-5, work on your routine- never move the club without it - and go through your own CHECKLIST,

like this:

write it down, use the list in every practice, until U dont need the list.

Sorry I can not guess at a quick fix but I hope I point you in the right direction.

HungryBear,

Yes, more attention needs to be paid to my routine. I think in doing so, I might have highlighted not only this shanking problem with the wedges, but a problem with the driver as well. It might be that right hand grip is too weak-turning to much to the right. This seems to have many unwanted effects
